Top 5 Tips to Dive with a Mustache

Top 5 Tips to Dive with a Mustache

If you like having a mustache, you may not want to shave it every time you go diving. Here I made a list of the top 5 suggestions for divers with mustaches and mask leaking problems.

1.- "Stretch" your face

This is my favorite solution to stop mask leaking and it works quite often for me. The only thing you have to do is to make a face gesture like if you were astonish puling your upper lip down while placing your mask. This will make the little amount of skin between you nose and your lip get in

2.- Grease

When you have a mustache, your face and your mask may not make a proper seal. Sometimes placing some grease (like Vaseline or chapstick) on your mustache can help you create this seal.

3.- Change mask

When your mask structure is hard, creating a proper seal may be more problematic. So, if you have a mustache, sometimes using a soft silicon mask could solve the problem.

4.- Shave the top of the mustache

When the mustache goes all the way up to you nose leaving no free skin to create a proper seal, one solution is to shave only the top part of the mustache. You are not going to look so different and this is going to be of great help.

5.- Get use to clear your mask

When leaking isn't too bad it can be solved by only clearing your mask more often than normal. This doesn't take you long and sometimes you won't even notice it.
